 It's simple: either your customers pay sales taxes, or you do. States are getting aggressive about collecting sales tax from remote sellers regardless of whether they have a physical presence or not. It’s important to get out ahead of any potential sales tax exposure. Whether you’re aware of it, your business may have triggered nexus in a state, requiring you to have already been collecting and remitting sales tax for business done there. A lot of companies are accruing unknown liabilities every day that they’re selling to customers in those states.
